Experience

FortressMC disables most vanilla XP sources. You cannot get XP from mining, mob kills, smelting, breeding, fishing, or villager trades. XP comes from bottles and emeralds only.

Disabled sources (default)

Mob kills, block breaking, furnaces, breeding, fishing, villager trades, and grindstone enchant stripping all give 0 XP.

How to get XP

Bottles o’ enchanting

• Right-click or grind a bottle for 10 XP

Emeralds

• Right-click an emerald (in air or on a non-interactable block) for 90 XP
• Craft 9 bottles → 1 emerald at a crafting table

This is the only way to get levels for enchanting.

Enchantment table

The enchantment table charges the full displayed level cost, not vanilla’s 1/2/3 tier pricing. Lapis requirements are unchanged.

Plan your XP carefully: enchanting is expensive compared to vanilla.
