Factories

Factories replaces all vanilla villager trades on FortressMC. Instead of normal villager recipes, you invest in a villager to lock it to a production category, then use it to bulk-craft items.

Requires: Player Essence for many trades

Wandering traders keep their sell trades (emeralds → items) but purchase trades are removed to prevent emerald farming.

How factories work

  1. Find an unspecialized villager. It shows ~22 investment trades labeled with enchanted paper.
  2. Pay the investment cost. You receive no item. The villager permanently locks to that factory category.
  3. The villager now shows production trades for that category only.
  4. Most production trades require an empty shulker box plus materials. You get the same shulker back filled with 27 identical items.
  5. Some trades (mount armor, bells) output the item directly without a shulker.
  6. Trades costing essence require a physical Player Essence item in the trade window.

Hero of the Village and villager reputation do not affect factory costs. Specialization is saved on the villager and survives restarts.

Separate cauldron-based precursor chain (suspicious stew tiers I through X) leading to emerald blocks. Investment: 64 XP bottles + 12 essence. Ties into the Experience XP economy.
