Citadel
Citadel is the block and entity reinforcement system used on FortressMC. Reinforcement consumes a material and assigns additional durability to an individual object. It does not create an ownership claim or make the object indestructible.
Materials
The available material depends on the dimension. Blocks cannot be reinforced in the End.
| Dimension | Material | Maximum durability |
|---|---|---|
| Overworld | Brick | 50 |
| Overworld | Iron ingot | 250 |
| Overworld | Diamond | 1,250 |
| Overworld | Netherite ingot | 6,250 |
| Nether | Nether brick | 50 |
| Nether | Gold ingot | 250 |
New reinforcement begins with no effective durability and matures at a rate of one point every five minutes. A newly reinforced object therefore remains vulnerable until sufficient time has passed.
Applying reinforcement
Automatic reinforcement is enabled by default. When a block or compatible entity is placed while a valid material is present in the hotbar or offhand, one material is consumed. The offhand is checked first, followed by the hotbar.
An existing object can be reinforced, inspected, or upgraded by left-clicking it with a valid material in the active hand. An upgrade must use a tier with a higher maximum durability.
Each successful break attempt removes one point of durability and leaves the object in place. When the remaining durability is exhausted, the reinforcement material drops and the object can be broken normally.
Automatic reinforcement is controlled by /cttoggle. The arguments on and off set an explicit state. /ctr and /ctauto are aliases. Disabling the automatic mode does not affect manual reinforcement, inspection, or upgrades.
Soul campfire acid
A lit, unreinforced soul campfire placed directly beneath a reinforced block can remove reinforcement. The campfire must stand on an acid base valid for the dimension and tier.

Acid removes one durability point every 20 seconds while the campfire is loaded, lit, unreinforced, and directly beneath the target. Progress pauses when the chunk unloads. Each base can remove only as much durability as the corresponding reinforcement tier contains.
| Dimension | Base block | Maximum damage | Time for a matching tier |
|---|---|---|---|
| Overworld | Bricks | 50 | 16 minutes 40 seconds |
| Overworld | Iron block | 250 | 1 hour 23 minutes 20 seconds |
| Overworld | Diamond block | 1,250 | 6 hours 56 minutes 40 seconds |
| Overworld | Netherite block | 6,250 | 34 hours 43 minutes 20 seconds |
| Nether | Nether bricks | 50 | 16 minutes 40 seconds |
| Nether | Gold block | 250 | 1 hour 23 minutes 20 seconds |
Breaking, extinguishing, or reinforcing the soul campfire stops the process.
Entity reinforcement
Armor stands, paintings, item frames, minecarts, and boats use the same materials, durability, and maturation rules as blocks. They may be reinforced automatically when placed or manually by striking them with a valid material.
An interaction key controls use of an entity, such as mounting it or opening its inventory, but does not increase its resistance to damage. Citadel reinforcement and key access are separate systems.
Bastions
Bastions use reinforced beacons and conduits as their central blocks. Attempts to reinforce within an unauthorized bastion field damage the central block’s Citadel durability.
