World design

The FortressMC overworld is a square bounded at 10,000 blocks from the origin in each horizontal direction. Its finite area is intended to concentrate settlement, trade, and territorial conflict. The current terrain and player settlements are visible on the live map.

End portals

Strongholds do not generate on FortressMC. End portal frames are instead placed at approximately 24 sites on a regular grid. The sites are 5,000 blocks apart and lie underground at Y 20. Each contains a ring of 12 frames.

Eyes of ender point toward the nearest custom site. An eye has a 20 percent chance of being consumed when thrown. Once its frames are filled, the portal operates as an ordinary end portal.

Nether confinement

Players bound to an exile pearl cannot use Nether portals to return to the Overworld. On death or forced placement in the Nether, a pearled player respawns within 1,250 blocks of the Nether origin unless a charged respawn anchor has been set there.

Expansion

The world border is intended to expand after major Minecraft updates that introduce new terrain generation. Expansion adds previously unexplored outer terrain while retaining the existing central world.
